Description

I'm a 34-year-old living with an acquired brain injury post aneurysm and stroke from neurosurgery complications. I live with my husband and cat in in a terraced house in Gorleston.

My physical impairments include a paralysed left arm, weak left leg, sensory changes and partial sight loss. I also have mild cognitive issues. All of which are supported through rehab therapies.

Location: Gorleston, NR31

Details:
I have a primary PA but I am looking for a second PA to cover mostly Monday mornings (eg 8am to early afternoon) and other times as required/planned together. Hours are likely to be on a Monday morning and early afternoon but could vary from week to week with additional times or cover for primary PA.

Responsibilities would include:
Support with morning personal care routine (assisting with washing, dressing and breakfast and medication, putting on orthotics and supports - guidance given.)
Assistance with admin and paperwork.
Light household duties such as loading and unloading the washing machine and clothes drying rack, washing up etc.
Assistance preparing food and cooking meals.
Support with getting to appointments or otherwise accessing the community in my power wheelchair (e.g. shopping, collecting medication and other errands). Having access to a car would be essential here.

I have a particular interest in the arts, nature and gardening, and would therefore like someone to support me to continue to engage in these activities. As well as supporting me to actively engage in my rehab therapies including physio, OT and vision - guidance given.

I am a vegetarian and environmentally aware, so I try to live as sustainably as possible (for example avoiding extraneous plastic packaging, fast fashion brands, processed foods etc). therefore, I wish my lifestyle choices to be respected.

While my condition means that I cannot perform some tasks, I am eager to continue to progress with finding ways to do things for myself so that I can become as independent as possible. I'm therefore looking for someone to do tasks with me, not for me. I have various adaptation tools for different tasks.

The successful applicant will be open minded, non-judgmental, respectful, reliable, trustworthy and a with a degree of flexibility to adjust as I progress with regaining my independence through rehab therapies.
