Career development

Progression can be sideways into a different type of job, or a move up into a job with more responsibility. 

A national care career structure, the Care Workforce Pathway, is currently in development. It clearly defines roles and routes to professional development, underpinned with quality training. 

A new, accredited qualification, the Care Certificate, is also being introduced. It is a benchmark standard to ensure people with the right skill set and values are joining the profession. This new qualification is portable, so you won't need to retrain for skills already demonstrated in previous roles within the sector.
