Description
About the role:
I am a friendly easy-going 60-year-old man living in Weybourne, I am currently looking for a Support Worker(s) to support me within my home and out in the community, to encourage my independence. I have various medical conditions but possess full capacity, so like to be treated as so. I know my own needs so the ability to follow my instructions and good communication skills are essential for this role. I like to have a good rapport with my Support Workers, I also live with my 82-year-old mother, so a rapport with her is extremely important to me.
I am looking for Support Workers who can support me with all my care and medical needs. I currently need cover especially on the weekends (days, evenings, and nights) plus I have requirements for waking nights the whole week available. But I am interested in support on weekdays, but you would be expected to work at least one shift alternative weekends. The successful candidate(s) will become part of a team, so you will be expected to help to cover holiday and sickness within that where possible. (Please state your availability on your application.)
The right candidate will need to be friendly and respectful, experience in a similar role could be beneficial, but this is not an absolute necessity. The right attitude and approach are most important. Full training will be given, which will include suction training and manual handling specific to my requirements.
The Support Worker(s) will be responsible to me as their employer. They will be expected to always maintain a professional approach, ensure our working relationship is confidential. Plus remain mindful of my right to dignity and respect.
General duties and responsibilities will include:
All personal care
Assistance with medication
Assistance with feeding
Moving and handling, i.e. from bed to wheelchair and around the home, village or elsewhere, I use a track hoist in the home
Domestic tasks around the home as required
Encouraging my independence
Additional points to consider:
We live in a rural area, so your own methods of transportation are essential. This is a non- smoking household, so I prefer my Support Workers not to smoke or smell of smoke. Respectful smokers/vapers would be accepted, the main concern is that it does not affect their work or my home environment. I expect my employees to be sensible and respectful with their use of mobile phones. With no non-essential calls to be made or taken while engaged in tasks, plus no charging of devices without permission.
No uniform is provided, so own clothing choices however I expect my Support Workers to be clean, tidy and presentable at all times.
